What class level should I choose?
Periodically yogis may be faced with some confusion about what class is appropriate based on the way we are feeling. As you may know, pace and intensity vary among different styles of yoga and for students at different levels in there practice. Students are encouraged to choose the class that is right for them based on how they are feeling in the moment. Even within a particular class students should always be free to go at their own pace and make modifications to accommodate their needs. Sometimes that requires yogis to give themselves permission to listen to their bodies and honor their needs. Some days our bodies need more relaxation, gentle movement, and ease. While some days our bodies need increased intensity to build strength and confidence.

Intensity Defined
Restful = classes designed to soothe and relax; completely surrender and let go.
Light (lower intensity) = classes designed to encourage movement in larger muscle groups while keeping a steady heart rate.
Moderate (medium intensity) = classes designed to encourage rhythmic movement, isometric holds, strengthening muscle groups and increasing heart rate.
Vigorous (high intensity) = classes designed to push students to their edge, get the heart rate up and encourage sweat. Poses involve isometric contractions with jump transitions, inversions, and arm balances.
